The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has affirmed that poultry meat is a key staple on Ramadan tables, with local production exceeding one million tons. This reflects the abundance of the national product and its ability to meet domestic demand while also generating a surplus that enhances export potential to various countries worldwide, contributing to the Kingdomโs food security.
As part of the “Our Table from Our Land” campaign, launched in conjunction with the arrival of Ramadan 1446H to encourage the consumption of local food products during the holy month, the ministry highlighted that Saudi Arabia has achieved a 72% self-sufficiency rate in poultry meat. This reinforces its position as a key player in global food security. The ministry reiterated its commitment to developing the poultry sector by supporting local investments and promoting sustainable production to ensure continued abundance, in line with the goals of Vision 2030.
With the rising demand for food products during Ramadan, the Ministry stated that it is coordinating with national companies to ensure market stability and supply chain efficiency. This includes monitoring production and ensuring the availability of sufficient quantities to meet consumer needs. The Ministry also emphasized its intensified regulatory efforts through continuous field inspections aimed at ensuring that markets and suppliers comply with health and environmental standards while providing safe, high-quality products. These efforts contribute to market stability and strengthen food security.
The Ministry underscored the importance of preserving blessings and reducing food waste, reaffirming its commitment to supporting food conservation initiatives. Through awareness campaigns, it seeks to promote a culture of responsible consumption and collaborates with charitable organizations to distribute surplus food to families in need. These efforts align with national strategies aimed at minimizing waste and improving consumption efficiency.
Additionally, the Ministry continues to support farmers and local producers through its campaign to enhance domestic production, raise food quality and safety standards, and ensure a steady supply of products throughout the holy month. It highlighted that these initiatives reflect its commitment to sustainable development and food security, in line with the Kingdomโs Vision 2030 objectives.
