
The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has announced that Saudi Arabia’s poultry sector has achieved 100% self-sufficiency in table egg production, ensuring a significant surplus that contributes to the country’s food security.
According to the ministry, Saudi Arabia’s table egg production reached approximately 8 billion eggs in 2024. Eggs are a staple in daily meals and are widely used in the preparation of essential dishes such as pastries, pies, and various other foods. The ministry also highlighted its efforts to enhance food quality, ensure safety standards, and maintain a stable supply in the market.
The ministry emphasized that its strategies and plans focus on increasing self-sufficiency in the poultry sector by supporting and encouraging investments, providing financial and logistical support, and facilitating the establishment and expansion of poultry projects. These initiatives aim to achieve self-reliance, localize the industry, and create national job opportunities.
Furthermore, the ministry is committed to supporting the table egg sector and its products by adopting policies that boost local production, strengthen food security, and attract investments in the poultry industry. It also seeks to implement global best practices in egg safety and quality, support local farms with advanced technologies, and enhance production efficiency to ensure the sector’s sustainability. These efforts align with Saudi Vision 2030’s goals of increasing self-sufficiency and promoting locally produced goods.
