The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has urged all local poultry producers who have not yet completed the application process for the Saudi GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) Certificate to finalize their registration procedures before the end of the 2026 calendar year through the Namaa platform.<\/p>\n
In a circular addressed to the Saudi Chambers Federation, the Ministry emphasized the importance of implementing the Saudi Good Agricultural Practices (Saudi GAP) standards on local poultry farms. These standards play a vital role in enhancing compliance with approved regulations, improving product quality and safety, supporting sector development, and contributing to the achievement of national agricultural objectives.
\nFor its part, the Saudi Chambers Federation called on stakeholders in the poultry production sector to complete the registration process as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
The Saudi GAP Certificate serves as Saudi Arabia\u2019s national quality mark for good agricultural practices. The initiative, launched by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, is based on the application of a set of national and international requirements and standards at farms and agricultural facilities, covering all stages from production to harvesting and packaging.
\nThe standards encompass:
\nFood safety and product traceability.
\nWorker health and safety.
\nProtection of the environment and natural resources.
\nSafe use of fertilizers and pesticides.
\nFacility hygiene and irrigation water quality.
\nThe importance of the Saudi GAP Certificate lies in its role as a guarantee of food safety for consumers. The certification ensures that local products comply with both national and international standards. For example, eggs or vegetables carrying the Saudi GAP logo have been inspected and verified to be free from harmful pesticide residues.
\nThe certification also strengthens confidence in Saudi products. Currently, approximately 82% of table egg production in the Kingdom is certified under Saudi GAP, providing both consumers and traders with assurance of the high quality of local products.
\nFurthermore, Saudi GAP facilitates access to export markets, as many importing countries require GAP certification for agricultural imports. As a result, the certificate enhances the competitiveness of Saudi products in international markets and supports the food security objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
\nIn addition, the certification benefits farmers and poultry producers by encouraging the adoption of good agricultural practices, improving operational efficiency, and providing training for farmers and technical staff. This contributes to higher productivity, lower production costs, and reduced waste.
