
Poultry meat production exceeds 1,310,000 tons.
The poultry sector is one of the most vital and productive sectors in the Kingdom, given its nutritional and economic importance, its central role in supporting food security and achieving self-sufficiency, and its provision of high-quality protein sources to the community.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, as part of its “From the Bounty of Our Land” campaign launched to encourage the consumption of local food products during the month of Ramadan, explained that poultry meat is distinguished by its high nutritional value. It is a rich source of proteins, vitamins, and essential minerals, in addition to being easy to prepare and versatile for various Ramadan dishes, making it a suitable food choice for all segments of society.
The Ministry indicated that poultry meat production exceeds 1,310,000 tons, contributing to meeting consumer needs, especially during the holy month, which witnesses increased demand for national food products. The poultry sector operates under an integrated production system that applies the highest standards of quality and food safety by adopting the latest practices and advanced technologies in breeding and nutrition. This enhances consumer confidence in local products and ensures their sustainable availability in domestic markets.
Poultry meat is an important source of high-quality, low-fat protein, essential for building and repairing muscles and supporting overall body functions. It is also rich in several vitamins, such as Niacin (B3), Vitamin B6, and Vitamin B12, which play key roles in energy metabolism, brain function, and red blood cell formation. In addition, poultry provides essential minerals such as phosphorus, which supports bone health, and selenium, an antioxidant that boosts immune function and supports thyroid health. Poultry helps muscle growth and repair, supports energy metabolism, and promotes healthy skin and nervous system function. Therefore, lean poultry is recommended as a healthy alternative to red meat, benefiting heart health when consumed as part of a balanced diet.
The Ministry continues to encourage consumers to choose national poultry products for their high quality and exceptional nutritional value, as well as their contribution to strengthening food security and sustainable agricultural development, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
