“Environment”: “Saudi GAP” Coverage in Poultry Production Reaches 90%, Boosting Consumer Confidence in the Quality and Safety of Local Products
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture revealed that the implementation rate of Saudi Good Agricultural Practices (Saudi GAP) in the Kingdom’s poultry sector has reached approximately 90%. This has contributed to increasing broiler chicken production to around 1.2 million tons in 2024, improving poultry product quality and ensuring food safety—while enhancing environmental protection and efficient use of natural resources, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
The Ministry noted, within its awareness campaign titled “Your Local Guarantee”, launched to encourage compliance with standards and food quality and safety requirements, the importance of applying good agricultural practices and adopting modern technologies and innovations in poultry production, processing, and marketing to strengthen the sustainability of the Kingdom’s food security system.
The Ministry also explained that the poultry sector in Saudi Arabia is witnessing rapid growth, contributing to industry development, increased investment value, market availability, and stronger national supply chains.
The “Your Local Guarantee” campaign is part of an integrated set of initiatives implemented by the Ministry to enhance consumer confidence, promote sustainable agriculture concepts, support the competitiveness of local products, and create added value for the agricultural sector.
