Average Annual Income of Small Farmers and Rural Producers to Exceed SAR 240,000 by 2030

The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program “Reef Saudi Arabia” has revealed expectations that the average monthly income of program beneficiaries—small farmers and rural producers—will rise to more than SAR 20,000 per individual by 2030. The program noted that this significant growth reflects its efforts to support and enhance economic sustainability in rural areas, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

The official spokesperson for “Reef Saudi Arabia,” Majed Al-Buraikan, explained that this clear growth in income levels for small farmers is the result of substantial and continuous efforts based on several strategic pillars. These include expanding the program’s activities by increasing the scope of empowerment, bringing the number of beneficiaries of its support and services to more than 200,000. Efforts have also focused on boosting productivity through the widespread adoption of “model projects” that have proven successful in increasing production by between 40% and 250%, depending on the sector. In addition, value has been added by improving rural incomes and developing value chains, transforming producers into small investors, supporting local processing and marketing operations, and achieving sustainability and technological advancement through the use of modern irrigation technologies and agricultural mechanization. These measures have reduced operating costs by up to 25% in some processes, contributing to higher net profits for farmers.

Al-Buraikan added that the transformation in income levels for small rural producers and farmers represents a productive investment aimed at making work in rural areas a competitive economic option compared to urban employment. This, in turn, contributes to ensuring the stability and sustainability of rural communities. He noted that the expectations of achieving such significant income growth are based on the upward trajectory of income levels, which began at an average of SAR 9,500 in 2018 and rose to SAR 13,763 by the end of 2024/2025—an increase of 45%. This progress underscores the success of the programs and projects supported by “Reef Saudi Arabia” in developing local communities and strengthening their role in supporting the national economy.
