Ministry of Industry Announces the Establishment of the Non-Profit Food Manufacturers Association
The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has announced the establishment of the Non-Profit Food Manufacturers Association, which aims to support efforts to localize food industries in the Kingdom, enhance the quality and competitiveness of national products, and empower non-profit organizations in the industry and mining sectors—recognizing their vital role in supporting Saudi Arabia’s economic and social development.
The association focuses on identifying the challenges facing food manufacturers, strengthening their communication with decision-makers to find appropriate solutions, and raising governance and transparency standards in the sector. It will also conduct technical studies to support the improvement of legislative frameworks within the food industry and promote the presence of Saudi food products locally and globally.
The food manufacturing sector is one of 12 key industrial sub-sectors prioritized for development and localization under the National Industrial Strategy, in line with the goals of Vision 2030—to enhance self-sufficiency, strengthen the Kingdom’s food security, and establish Saudi Arabia as a regional and global hub for food manufacturing and exports.
The Ministry has launched several initiatives to develop the food industry and stimulate high-quality investments, including specialized industrial clusters such as the Food Cluster in Jeddah, covering 11 million square meters, and the Dairy Industrial Cluster in Al-Kharj. These projects reflect the Kingdom’s commitment to building a globally competitive food manufacturing sector.
Saudi Arabia’s food market is among the largest in the Middle East, currently valued at over 200 billion riyals, with an annual growth rate of 3%, and is expected to reach 214 billion riyals by 2030.
The establishment of the Non-Profit Food Manufacturers Association comes as part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to empower the non-profit sector, enhance its role in industry and mining, and increase its contribution and direct impact on the Kingdom’s GDP, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
