” Ministry of Environment” Launches the Digital Field Schools Platform to Enhance Digital Transformation and Empower Farmers with Sustainable Agricultural Practices

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, in partnership with the Saudi Reef Academy, has launched the Digital Field Schools Platform to accelerate digital transformation, promote the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, and contribute to transforming traditional agricultural extension services into an integrated digital system. The platform aims to improve farmers’ production and operational efficiency by providing knowledge, training, and smart agricultural guidance, supporting food security and sustainable agricultural development in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The Ministry explained that the platform is part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the digital transformation of agricultural extension services. It represents a smart solution that creates a qualitative shift from traditional extension models toward a comprehensive digital ecosystem based on smart technologies. The platform aims to spread sustainable farming practices, introduce farmers to best agricultural practices, improve productivity, enhance resource efficiency, and preserve natural resources.
The Ministry highlighted that the Digital Field Schools Platform empowers farmers through training, capacity building, knowledge transfer, and agricultural guidance, while supporting access to markets for their products. It also provides farmers with reliable agricultural consultations that contribute to reducing costs, improving production efficiency, increasing income levels, enhancing quality of life, protecting the environment, ensuring efficient resource utilization, and strengthening food security.
The platform is the result of a strategic partnership between the Ministry and the Saudi Reef Academy to develop the agricultural extension system through academic and field expertise, providing farmers with smart, integrated, and digital agricultural advisory services.
The project includes 39 digital field schools covering various agricultural and livestock activities, offering greater flexibility in accessing agricultural extension services and utilizing available digital infrastructure to support food security and promote sustainable agriculture.
